When it comes to weight loss, many of us have been led to believe that willpower alone is the key to success. However, the truth is that there are complex biomechanisms within our bodies that play a significant role in hunger control and metabolism. At Enbody, we understand the importance of addressing these underlying factors to achieve sustainable and effective weight loss. In this blog post, we will delve into the science behind hunger and metabolism regulation and introduce you to Semaglutide – a breakthrough medication that can revolutionize your weight loss journey.
Unraveling the Biomechanisms
Our bodies are intricately designed systems, and weight regulation involves a complex interplay of hormones, neural signals, and metabolic processes. Willpower alone is often insufficient in overcoming these underlying factors that contribute to weight gain and difficulty in losing weight.
Hunger Control
One of the primary factors that can derail weight loss efforts is uncontrolled hunger. It’s not just a matter of self-control or discipline; there are physiological mechanisms at play. Hormones like ghrelin, commonly known as the “hunger hormone,” can send powerful signals to our brain, triggering cravings and appetitive behaviors. This is where Semaglutide comes into the picture.
Introducing Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It works by mimicking the action of a naturally occurring hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). By activating GLP-1 receptors in the brain, Semaglutide helps regulate hunger signals, making it easier to resist cravings and manage portion control.
Metabolism Enhancement
In addition to hunger control, Semaglutide has been shown to have a positive impact on metabolism. It helps increase insulin sensitivity, which can lead to better utilization of glucose in the body. This, in turn, can contribute to more efficient energy metabolism and potentially aid in weight loss.

Wanted to know if Medicare will pay for this.

How come Semiglutide doesn’t work for me?
Hi Tammy, Semaglutide’s effectiveness can be influenced by various factors, including hormonal changes, metabolic differences, body composition, and underlying health conditions. For some women, particularly those going through menopause or dealing with conditions like PCOS, these factors can reduce the drug’s impact. Adjustments in lifestyle, dose optimization, and addressing underlying health issues may be needed to improve the efficacy of semaglutide for weight loss. Our Nurse Practitioners can make a plan to help semaglutide work better for you by adding other medications such as metformin, or supplements to support your metabolism. If a lack of hormones is the underlying issue, we can replenish those hormones. If neither of these methods work, we would offer you tirzepatide or an alternative appetite suppressant.
Hi Jacquline, unfortunately Medicare does not pay for weight loss medications or compounded drugs. However, we are hoping that this changes in the future. We do offer lower cost options such as appetite suppressants and financing if you’re interested in going that route.
